Understanding Your Insurance: Vision vs. Medical
You’re Covered — Let’s Help You Use It
Insurance can be confusing, but your eye care shouldn’t be. We’re here to make it simple.
Whether you need a routine vision exam or treatment for an eye health concern, we’ll help you use the right plan — and make sure you get the care you need.
What’s the Difference Between Vision and Medical Insurance
Vision Insurance:
- Covers Routine Eye Exams
- Helps with glasses or contact lens costs
- Often used once per year
- Examples: VSP, Superior Vision
Medical Insurance:
- Covers eye health problems
- Covers conditions like diabetes, dry eye, or infections
- Used as needed for medical treatment or diagnosis
- Examples: Blue Cross, Aetna, Medicare, etc.
When Do You Use Vision Insurance?
Vision plans cover routine eye exams, which check your prescription and overall eye health. They also typically help with the cost of:
- Glasses and lenses
- Contact lens fittings
- Optional lens upgrades (anti-reflective, Transitions, etc.)
We currently accept:
- VSP (Vision Service Plan)
- Superior Vision / Versant
